Can you make a Will?

Please check the following statements. If any of these do not apply to you (and your partner if making a mirror Will) then please click ‘book a call’ to arrange a telephone appointment with an adviser.

You (and your partner):

  • Are aged 18 years or over
  • Live in the UK
  • Understand the English language
  • Can read/write English
  • Understand you are making a Will effective on your death and not some other document
  • Are making this Will freely. You are not being coerced or influenced by another
  • Are aware of the extent of your property and other assets
  • Are aware of those who should be provided for and expect to inherit from your estate on your death, although you have the freedom to decide on the distribution of your estate and who will benefit
  • (Mirror Will only) You both understand that by making a mirror Will, the terms of your Wills will be similar (although not necessarily identical) and the beneficiaries inheriting your estates will be the same, regardless which one of you were to die first or if you were to die together
